In December 2020 , Alaqua Cox was cast as Maya Lopez in the upcoming Disney+ series Hawkeye. In March 2021 , news broke that a Hawkeye spinoff series about Echo was in early development.November 2021 , it was officially confirmed that the Echo series was in the works. The production began in April 2022. All five episodes premiere on January 9th 2024.Marion Dayre will be the lead writer of the series.
The writers room also includes Shoshannah Stern, Josh Feldman, Bobby Dues, Rebecca Roanhorse, Kaitlyn Jeffers, Steven Paul Judd, Jason Gavin, Ken Kristensen, Dara Resnik and Jessica Mecklenburg.Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie are set to direct the series.
